Brief: To transform the inside of an empty shop unit in the City Centre into an immersive family experience, where people were invited in by elves to walk into a magical forest, in which they would find Santa’s cabin. Inside they would find Santa’s cozy and festive Study, where there were lots of funny and interesting details to discover for kids and grown ups.

Process: This was a Restless Forest project, myself and my creative partner Ruthie meticulously designed this space, transforming what was an empty shell with stud walling, and creative carpentry. We employed a team of artists and tradespeople to bring our design to life including a mural artist, set dresser, florists, a sound artist and a lighting designer. We sourced lots of props and furniture, many of which were bought second hand. We upcycled, painted and repurposed a lot of the furniture, and added small details only to be discovered by those who looked hard enough. This gave the space a handmade, rich and detailed feel.
